Practical solutions for people + planet

Does anyone on this list have ideas about what I can do to locate artists in Gainesville Florida who may be willing to make use of empty plastics for public art.
I will write more about what I have done when I read from others

Hi Kole,

The folks who run the Women Environmental Artists Directory might be able to help out - worth getting in touch with them at least. I'd guess they're fairly well connected.

Another good resource, since you're in a university town, is the Sustainability Office at the University of Florida. They're usually plugged in throughout the campus and could potentially know artists or student artists who work with recycled materials.

I found this art exhibit from several years ago after a quick search through their website: Trashformations' recycled art competition. The contact info on the page might be a great lead.

Good luck - let us know what you end doing.

I will send you flyers and ALL I did to get the Sustainable Office at UF interested. Believe me I tried everything. Yes I got two artists who promised to come collect the plastics but read our exchanges. First the positive: Dear Kole,
That sounds very nice of you. Often public school
art teachers find many uses for platic containers with
the kids, or perhaps, the UF Art Education Dept. would
be interested. As an art teacher, five years ago, I
would go up and down my street to find containers for
my students out of re-cycle bins.
Sincerely,
Peter

THIS IS THE ONE THAT BROKE MY HEART

Sorry- I am in the midst of resolving a health issue and cannot make it to
UF or anywhere. I'll let the containers go - someone else may want to use
them. Thanks for responding.

This is a very long process. I understand you are busy but I will like
to bring a closure to this. You asked me a question and I responded and
I read nothing again. Please what is the situation? Do you still want
the materials?
Thank you
Kole
