Comment by Felice on August 4, 2008 at 1:26pm: I have been practicing Nonviolent Communication for the past five years. The transformation it has brought to my life and my connections with other people is just amazing. We use language all the time. Language can connect us and it can contribute to huge misunderstandings as well. Many misunderstandings create internal and even external wars. While we get trained in how to write and count, we don't receive much training in how to connect and communicate empathically and honestly (being clear about our feelings and needs). Using words helps us to express our thoughts and intentions. For me, oral expression is a creation and manifestation of ideas. Expressing our thoughts helps us to become aware of what is going on deeper underneath. Therefore, I totally agree that changing language—changing the way we speak and think—can change stories. And if stories change, our inner world and the world around us changes as well. It's all connected.

Comment by Afriendof B on April 29, 2008 at 8:44pm: I liked the idea here. I think that the language we use, as a reflection of the stories we live, shows us where we are going. Maybe if we change the language, or the stories, we will go somewhere else.
