I am a visionary who is passionate for the last 23 years of my life for women's empowerment as a force for cultural change. I believe that we are a growing untapped resource that hold the potential for continuing to restore, balance, and bring great healing to where we are suffering. This mission is not every woman alive. Yet often it is the women of this world who are close to the earth, who serve her communities, who understand the power of her sacred feminine heart and how that force is within all of life including our sons, brothers and fathers.
I am the founder of a ten year old women's mystery school, Priestess Path which focuses on a women's archetype who once was consulted by government before wars were fought. Imagine that? Priestess Path is not a vocational training but rather a nine month womb container for a woman to birth her highest potentiality and bring her gifts forward. I am also the founder of the Women's Belly and Womb Conferences which honor the power of our knowing in our gut, Daughters of the Earth Gathering where we raise five elemental women's temples on land that is off the grid and council on the hard issues such as race, class and our environment while also being in ceremonies, celebration, healing and unity with a diverse group of women. In September of 2007 we launched under my leadership, the Red Tent Temple Movement which is a grassroots initiative to bring a place in our communities once a month where women can support one another with food, rest, circle, mentoring our young women, and the honoring of our womanhood journeys. It is now across the US and traveling to other countries as well. A woman in Australia began in July.
And I am the co-founder of Women in Power; Initiating Ourselves to the Predator Within. This is an international women's initiation held by women for the deep exploration in our psyches of coming to terms with the predator/prey/victim/perpetrator cycles both within and external to ourselves. This is where we face the darkness of our own ability to both annihilate life, ourselves and others and how we have been perpetrated against. This initiation began as an invitation from one of the founders of Mankind Project that run New Warrior weekends for men to design a fierce women's initiation that could be like a counterpart. With two other women, having all been trained and certified as Shadow Work facilitators, we designed this not on the warrior but what is known as the social warrior in what we call the Predator aspect.
Basically it is a safe and powerful place for women to dive deep and be held. Women come out feeling safer, more able to track this inner terrain and circuitry, and actually stronger than before.
I have three CD's of original chants and some of those of my friends. I frequent all night sacred fire ceremonies that continue through dawn as places where I am rejuvanated to do the work.
What are you working on?
Presently, I have as you can see a lot going on. I have two years of Priestess Path running at any one point, the 10th Women's Belly and Womb Conference on November 15th in Massachusetts, Women in Power in MD at the end of September. I will be facilitating at the SE Women's Herbal Conference in NC from Oct 3-5 a two hour ritual for all of the participants (possibly 600 women). I am wildly excited by the possiblities. In November I will be on Sacred Voices of the Feminine Radio show with Karen Tate and also meet with 65 women's groups a week later that are coming together to collaborate in California. This is definitely our time and I pray at nearly 50 to keep strong and healthy in my body. And to also keep my connection with the mystery, the earth, and the people that I love vital.
I am actually working on rest, learning to train and empower others to keep the work going, and becoming Changing Woman. I would love to begin to write but it would almost take another kind of lifestyle for me than the one I presently keep.
But of course, for years now, Women Who Run with the Wolves.
Favorite Musician:
This one is hard. I love music and have so many unusual CD's. If you have never heard Shawna Carol's Goddess Chant, check her out. She is also a beloved sister of mine.
