- ODD FACTS ABOUT MY ODD LIFE
1. My grandfather is rumored to be related to Emma Goldman, an anarchist who played a pivotal role in the development of a radical political philosophy.
2. Helen Caldicott lived in Newton for awhile where I grew up and I went to high school with her son. Her speeches in Boston inspired my first activist work by joining an anti-nuclear action group at my high school.
3. I've lived in Newton, Provincetown, Salt Lake City, Orem, Santa Cruz, New York City, Brooklyn, Inwood, L.A., and Santa Fe
4. I once had dinner with Liza Minelli.
5. I used to work as a matchmaker at a dating service when I was a student in New York.
6. Since acting in regional theatre, some of the parts I've played are a Nazi in "Cabaret," Uncle Henry and the Emerald City Guard in "Wizard of Oz," a child/man in a dinner theatre murder mystery, a Hollywood agent in "True West," and in high school a black Vietnam Veteran in a play reading competition.
7. I worked on Barney Frank's first political campaign when I was 15.
8. One of my favorite treats are ice cream with cool whip and dry cereal poured on top of it.
9. I didn't learn to drive until I was in my thirties.
10. I used to program one of the country's only weekly gay film series in Santa Fe until recently and still curate events at the Santa Fe Film Center.
11. I have a huge fondness for female folk singers including Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Buffy St. Marie, and Odetta.
12. A play I wrote won an audience award in a theatre festival that took place in a bowling alley in Minneapolis.

I didn't make it to the NCMR conference but heard Amy Goodman's program yesterday, during which she played most of Bill Moyers' speech. Right on!
