A lifelong vegetable gardener, plant enthusiast, and recently, permaculturist. Grew up in Hawaii. After teaching in public schools and commuting on the freeway every day, I now enjoy biking around town for most of my transportation needs. I work in the non-profit sector.
What are you working on?
I'm working on a policy report for the City of Berkeley, with fellow members of the Berkeley Oil Independece Task Force. Very interested in how peak oil will affect our lives--especially our food system, and our economic and monetary systems. I'm interested in projects to re-localize the economy, and to bring equity to those who are marginalized. I'm also interested in how organizations work best. I'm working on saving money to buy land up North, and beginning or joining a community of sorts--I'd like it to be diverse ethnically, and gay friendly. Meanwhile, I'm growing food at home, building community among my neighbors, and reading up on various diy activities.
Favorite Book(s):
Opening the Hand of Thought, by Kosho Uchiyama.
Favorite Musician:
